Niebla is an exhibition featuring a selection of paintings, drawings, videos, and objects made in the last ten years that aims to introduce Lajarin-Encina’s work to friends, colleagues, and neighbors in Fort Collins. These pieces have been produced since he established residency in the US, and most of them belong to different series and projects that were exhibited in other venues. For one reason or another, these pieces returned to his studio and became part of the “permanent collection of the artist.” While exhibiting just recent work was an initial consideration, arranging Niebla seemed an exciting exercise since it offered him an opportunity to unpack, revisit, and reconsider older work in relation to newer work and contexts and to find converging or diverging aspects between bodies of work made in this time frame.
