Catherine DiCesare, associate professor of Art History, is one of three co-founders of the regional Rocky Mountain Pre-Columbian Association (RMPA), and a founding organizer of the RMPA annual colloquium. The Rocky Mountain Pre-Columbian Association is hosting its 8th annual colloquium at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science in Denver, Colorado on Friday, September 29. The event brings together an interdisciplinary gathering of scholars from Colorado, Wyoming, and beyond to address the direction of their current research projects in short, informal presentations followed by discussion. Participants include art historians, archaeologists/anthropologists, and ethnohistorians who work on ancient Mesoamerican and central Andean prehispanic cultures (i.e., prior to the arrival of Europeans in the western hemisphere). Participating scholars are at all career stages, from beginning graduate students to established senior scholars, and independent scholars participate as well. The event is supported by the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, and is free and open to the public.
