For over a decade Colorado State University has been an international hub for artists and designers working at the intersection of Ceramics and Digital technology.
With practitioners from the fields of Art, Architecture, Design and Engineering, this field of research combines Ceramics - among the oldest human technologies - with emerging technologies in digital fabrication and parametric design.
This demonstration by faculty and students from the Department of Art and Art History presents a large scale 3D clay printer designed and built by CSU faculty member Del Harrow.  This is one of the largest clay printers in the world, combining a 6-foot gantry system with a continuous feed clay pump invented by CSU Faculty.

Cye Tornatzky

Professor of Electronic Art

Our team came together to create virtual reality simulations that can be used for training purposes. Our first project, VetVR, trains veterinary students and amateurs on some of the basics around emergency veterinary medicine. Users will learn while they play by navigating through numerous in-depth medical scenarios and making split-second decisions that will affect whether their animal patient lives or dies. We offer many training levels to prepare users for these high-intensity situations and reward success with fun Easter eggs and the ability to unlock new and exotic animal cases. Users will build confidence and use everything they have learned in VetVR to save the lives of animals with urgent and unknown injuries.

Our second project focuses on the dairy industry - DairyVR trains dairy workers in both English and Spanish on proper PPE equipment; calf milk preparation and administration; and methods to determine a calf's health.

Our most recent project is the Cat Cafe VR allows users to trap, feed, groom and set cats up for adoption!
