Jennie Kiessling’s work identifies a visual language at the intersection of the written works of Buddhist philosopher and teacher D.T. Suzuki, and artists Agnes Martin and Ad Reinhardt. Her drawings range from erased graphite to combinations of graphite and acrylic. Her materials remain simple, often changing based on the viewer’s position and lighting conditions. Recognizing a somatic presence of negation and emptiness is counterpointed with a quality of liminality and transcendence. The works are subtle, minimal and purely abstract pointing to what it is to engage with and to feel an edge state.

Jennie will doing a drawing installation on November 5th and 7th from 9am -1pm. The public is invited to observe.
