Join the Colorado State University Department of Art and Art History for a public lecture by multidisciplinary artist Nick Dong as part of the 2026–27 Scott Artist Series.
Dong creates experiential mixed-media sculptures, wearable objects and installations that combine metalsmithing, engineering, light, sound and movement. Designed to be experienced rather than simply viewed, his immersive works invite audiences to interact with their surroundings and reconsider the boundaries between object, environment and participant.
Based in Oakland, California, and Taipei, Dong has exhibited internationally at museums and cultural institutions including the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, USC Pacific Asia Museum, Exploratorium and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. His work was included in the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s 40 Under 40: Craft Futures, an exhibition examining new directions in contemporary craft.
Dong holds a BFA in Mixed Media and Painting from Tung-Hai University in Taichung, Taiwan, and an MFA in Metalsmithing and Jewelry from the University of Oregon.
About the Scott Artist Series
The Scott Artist Series brings nationally and internationally recognized artists to Colorado State University to exchange ideas with students and the broader community. Through lectures, exhibitions and other engagements, visiting artists share creative and innovative perspectives that broaden students’ understanding of contemporary art and its role in society.
The series was established by CSU alumni Shaesby Scott (’97, Art) and Catherine Scott (’98, History).
