The Gregory Allicar Museum of Art welcomes featured artists from the exhibition Off the Shelf: Contemporary Book Arts in Colorado for a panel discussion moderated by curators Anna Bernhard and Johnny Plastini.
Please join us in the Organ Recital Hall at the University Center for the Arts at 5 p.m. followed by a reception in GAMA’s Robert W. Hoffert Learning Center.
Free and open to all.

Panelists
Alicia Bailey
Studio artist/gallerist Alicia Bailey is affiliated with several professional organizations and is owner/director of Abecedarian Artists Books in Denver, Colorado. She is also a member of Denver’s Spark Gallery.
Alicia acts as an independent curator/juror, instructor/mentor, and regional events coordinator in the book arts. In her studio work, she has focused on book and box arts since the mid-nineties, producing box works, artists’ books, sculptural books, and limited edition books. Her work has been featured in dozens of solo and group exhibits throughout the world and is held in numerous public, private and special collections. An archive of her work is under development at University of Denver Penrose Library Special Collections.

Aaron Cohick
Aaron received his BFA in Painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2002, and his MFA in Printmaking from Arizona State University in 2007.
The NewLights Press is publishing-as-artistic practice, and is the imprint under which Aaron Cohick publishes his own work and that of other artists and writers. NewLights Press was founded in May of 2000 in Baltimore, Maryland, has been located in Baltimore, MD, Tempe, AZ, Oakland, CA, and is currently based in Colorado Springs. Aaron is also the Printer of The Press at Colorado College, a letterpress studio and classroom that seeks to create an interdisciplinary space in the liberal arts curriculum.
Aaron’s work, under both imprints, is held in public and private collections all over the world, including the Library of Congress, the New York Public Library, the Thomas J. Watson Library at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the British Library, the National Library of Australia, Yale University, SFMOMA Library, the Letterform Archive, the Newberry Library, and the Tate Britain Library. He has taught workshops at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, the Bemis School of Art, the San Francisco Center for the Book, Naropa University, and Penland School of Crafts.

Sammy Seung-Min Lee
Sammy Lee is an artist based in Denver, Colorado. Lee was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, and moved to Southern California at the age of sixteen. She studied fine art and media art at UCLA and architecture at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Among her many accomplishments is a performative collaboration with Yo-Yo Ma during the Bach project tour in 2018. Lee is recently a resident artist at RedLine Contemporary Art Center, serves as an ambassador for Asian Art at the Denver Art Museum, and operates a contemporary art project and residency space, called Collective SML | k in Santa Fe Art District, Denver.
Lee’s work has been exhibited internationally and can be found in collections at the Getty Research Institute, Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, Spencer Museum of Art, Denver Art Museum, and the Spanish National Library in Madrid.
