The Department of Art and Art History is excited to announce the inaugural Annual Alumni Invitational show. This year, Cei Lambert and Alexandra Forsyth have been invited to showcase recent works. The show opens July 12th and runs through September 10, 2021 in the Directions Community Gallery.
Cei Lambert is a tattoo artist, illustrator, and fiber artist. Cei’s work investigates chimeric beings in multiple media in a focused effort to examine metamorphosis, transfiguration, and self-actualization. Of the work, Cei says “Evolution means the subject of my work not only changes within its own lifespan but gives rise to generations of similar but interestingly unique individuals and, in time, entirely new species.”
Alexandra Forsythe is metalsmith and jeweler who makes one-of-kind jewelry from recycled metals and ethically sourced gemstones. Alexandra explores the characteristics and perception of time in relation to memory and community through the collection of and re-orientation of discarded objects. Of the work, Alexandra says “In this series of objects, I use my mental constructs to create an instance, a physical materialization of something formerly intangible.”
There will be a reception with artist talks on September 9 at 4pm.
