Art History Symposium

The annual Art History Symposium provides students the opportunity & experience of presenting their original art history research to an audience. The Art History faculty acts as jurors to choose the best presentation & the winner of the symposium goes on to represent the department & CSU at the Front Range Art History Symposium. Occurs first half of the spring semester.

BFA Juried Exhibition

The annual BFA exhibition ensures a final review of each graduating seniors BFA & provides the opportunity to gain skills with documenting of the submitted artwork. The exhibition hangs the last few weeks of spring semester in the Hatton Gallery.

BRAINY is a program of the Allicar Museum of Art with assistance from the School of the Arts departments of Visual Art, Music, Theater and Dance. BRAINY was conceived to provide arts opportunities for students from Title 1 schools in northern Colorado. Students from Art Education assist with efforts in promoting and facilitating the activities. Occurs approximately 5 times a semester.

The Engaged Art Walk is an arts-based community building project and an outdoor exhibition space that features rotating installations that integrate art, society, and education. Located on the north side of CSU's Visual Art building, the Arts Walk is a visible space for activating CSU’s Principles of Community, as well as our educational and outreach missions.

Family Day at the Museum

Led by CSU Art Education students and faculty, and designed for children age 5-12, this free, drop-in program includes gallery activities and an art project. Occurs the second half of the fall and spring semesters.

Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition (CIIPE)

The biennial CIIPE is a collection from the world’s most distinguished poster artists and designers hosted by CSU’s Department of Art and Art History. This popular event allows the entire campus and Northern Colorado communities to experience firsthand the best that the poster world has to offer. Occurs every other year, on the odd years.

Graduate Open Studio Tours

The Graduate Open Studio Tours is a celebration of Colorado State University’s Art and Art History graduate students and is open to the public. Artists share their studio practice and talk about key components of their work and artmaking process. The events will showcase a variety of mediums ranging from painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, metalsmithing, and fibers.

MFA Thesis Exhibition

The annual Master of Fine Arts Exhibition marks the culmination of a three-year degree program in the visual arts that fosters individual research & creative studio practice. Students in the program focus on a particular area of study & complete a mature body of work in their chosen field, which is situated within the discourse of contemporary art practice. The exhibition hangs at the end of the spring semester at the Gregory Allicar Museum of Art.

Poudre School District Exhibition

The Hatton Gallery hosts a yearly show featuring PSD student artwork. K-12 students are chosen by their art teachers from every school in the Poudre School District. A reception is held for families and friends of the student artists.

Scott Artist Series

The Scott Artist Series, established by alumnus, Shaesby Scott (’97, Art), and his wife, Catherine (’98, History) aims to encourage the exchange of ideas among artists from multiple disciplines, varied places and backgrounds. Inspirational speakers and artists are invited to the CSU campus to share creative and innovative ideas aimed at broadening the horizons of art students. Occurrence is variable and based on visiting artists’ schedules.
