The CSU Digital Fabrication Lab has two laser cutter/engravers: a Universal with a 60 Watt laser and an Epilog with a 120 Watt laser.
The laser can follow a vector path to engrave or cut through material. For raster files, the laser engraves each pixel, producing a duplicate of the image on the surface of the material. A successful raster engraving depends on a variety of factors like resolution, complexity of the image, and material to be engraved.
Work area: Universal 32″ x 18″, Epilog 36” x 24”
Maximum part size: 36″ x 24″ x 9″
Cuts: wood, masonite, acrylic, fabric, paper, cardboard, etc.
Engraves: Unfired ceramic, glass, stone, and above materials
The Klic-N-Kut Maxx High Force Cutter is a top-of-the line digital die cutter with 950g of cutting force and up to 600mm/sec cutting speed. This machine can cut everything from vinyl to rhinestone rubber, from paper to chipboard, from thin cotton fabric to stiffened felt. Make The Cut!, a vector designing program rich in functionality, is used to control the complex cuts of the Klic-N-Kut Maxx.
